“The Challenge of Muslim-Christian Dialogue”
A Lecture by Dorothy C. Buck, Ph.D.

The Lay Committee on Contemporary Spiritual-&-Public Concerns (The “CSPC Committee”) of St. Paul Parish, Cambridge, will hold the fourth lecture of its series on Friday, December 8, 2006, 7:30-9:00 pm. Interfaith leader Dorothy Buck, Ph.D., will speak on “The Challenge of Muslim-Christian Dialogue.” This event will be held at St. Paul Parish, 29 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA. A reception will follow.

Dr. Buck obtained her Doctorate of Philosophy in Religion and Literature from Boston University, and her Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Emmanuel College with further training at the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy. Before attending graduate school, Dr. Buck spent a long career as a classical ballet performer and teacher. Her keen interest in spirituality and psychology led her to leave the world of dance for Carmelite spirituality and higher education. Dr. Buck is in private practice as a licensed mental health practitioner and Pastoral Counselor in Somerville, MA. She is noted for her work in spirituality and interreligious dialogue. An active lecturer and established writer, she has published articles in Dance Magazine, Living Prayer, SUFI: A Journal of Sufism, The Quest, the National Catholic Reporter, and the Catholic Worker. Dr. Buck is author of Dialogues with Saints and Mystics: In the Spirit of Louis Massignon (New York & London: KNP Publications, 2002) and The Dance of Life (New York: Paragon House, 1987). She is on the Board of Directors of L’Association des Amis de Louis Massignon in Paris.

CSPC is a Roman Catholic lay-administered committee established by a group of St. Paul parishioners who, guided by faith and reason, seek to promote deepened dialogue by exploring significant contemporary issues in a public forum. The CSPC 2006-2007 Lectures will focus on a series of major issues, including the highly-charged relations with Islam and the progression toward social and economic justice.
